What did I miss?
Yeah, if you didnt notice... I had been gone for awhile. I took the family down to Disney for the week. We did all of their parks and spent a day at Sea World. It was a pretty good time... exhausting for us adults, but very memorable for the kids.
I tell you what, if you ever want to see "security theater" at its finest, just go to Disney. Their security consisted of a "No weapons of any kind" policy and some geriatric mall-cop rejects half-assedly searching only people's backpacks (Thats profiling!) before they entered the park. I did not carry while I was in the parks, but I kid you not... I literally could have walked in with just about anything that I wanted without much of an effort. There is also nothing in place to deter an attack on their mass transit system. If anyone was determined to plant a bomb or go on a mass shooting, there is not much of anything in place to stop them from doing so. I also found it amazing that in a "post 9/11 world", no one really cared one bit about unattended strollers or bags. Kinda scary.
OK... Two things going forward:
1. Its probably going to take some time for me to catch up on things, so posting may be slow and random for a while. I have a busy week ahead of me as I return to normal life, but I will get back into the full swing of things soon.
2. I can neither confirm nor deny that there is going to be an upcoming giveaway going on right here at this blog. Stay tuned for more details.

Groan! .... I'm rolling my eyes, but thats pretty darn funny.
DeleteThe wife just booked our tickets for Disney earlier today. The last time we were down there was the week after 9/11. We had the place to ourselves. I expect things will be different this time around.
ReplyDeleteGiveaway better not consist of anything Disney! :) I take the wife and kids there every other year and believe me its not my choice. I agree about the security observation. Don't forget that their tram goes right into a hotel. Not good if said bomber was on there.
