I am so glad to see gun companies finally realizing that they need to have these new product launches ready to sell as soon as they are announced. Smith and Wesson gets it, and so does Ruger. Great job!

He is one of the first on the Internets to have a review up... he has run 500 rounds through it and he loves it! Thats no small feat since he has pretty much hated every micro 9mm thus far.

Smith & Wesson Announces M&P SHIELD

Yep, its a 8+1 capacity 19 oz single stack (Officially its called "slightly double stacked") 9mm that looks exactly like the photo that was leaked out early. The S&W Shield will also be available in .40 and the MSRP is $450. In the official promo video below Jim Scoutten claims that it has the best trigger any M&P has seen yet.

I know that you M&P guys are gonna love this, but put me down for meh. I'm not really into the micro 9mms, and there are already plenty out there to choose from. Not being brand loyal to the M&P, this is just another micro 9mm to me.... just one more choice in the marketplace.

S&W Getting Ready to Make a Big Push

Here is a PowerPoint presentation from Smith and Wesson's recent SEC filing. It outlines many of the companies plans both internal and external as well as the big marketing push that they have in the works. The good news for us (the consumer) is that they are hinting at some cool new offerings in firearms.

They say that they are looking to really push their M&P brand as well as introduce several new and "exciting" polymer pistols for concealed carry and personal protection. There will also be offering many new calibers and models in their M&P rifle line (both tactical and hunting).

S&W M&P 15-22 vs. Mossberg AR-22

The S&W is about $200 more expensive, but if you are looking for a true .22lr AR trainer you have to pick the S&W in this head to head. I dont like where the safety is located at on the Mossberg, and as RTB notes:

The Mossberg AR-22 is a different animal altogether. Unlike the M&P 15-22 the AR-22 was NOT designed from the ground up to be a ".22LR Trainer"; rather Mossberg took their successful 702 Plinkster design and placed a cosmetic shell over it to emulate the 'look' of an AR-15. The result is that the rifle has no controls even remotely similar to an AR-15 and is a pain to disassemble for maintenace.
