American Silencer Association
WHAT IS THE ASA?
The American Silencer Association (ASA) is a new non-profit, trade association whose mission is to further the pursuit of education, public relations, legislation, and hunting, law enforcement, and military applications for the silencer industry. The parent companies responsible for the incorporation of the ASA are Advanced Armament Corp., Gemtech, and Silencerco/SWR. While they are fierce competitors in the marketplace, all three companies recognize the necessity of creating a single voice to educate the public and to enhance their ability to advocate for silencer rights. To most effectively do so, the ASA will immediately seek to recruit all remaining silencer manufacturers, firearm manufacturers, and firearm dealers into the organization in order to represent the entire silencer industry with a single voice.

Whats the next big thing in the gun industry?

Answer: Suppressors.
Yes, suppressors - or silencers, cans, moderators, mufflers, or whatever your fancy. The next big wave to hit the gun industry will be those infamous "tools of assassins, cop killers, and mafia thugs"... or so Hollywood and those loony gun grabbers would like everyone to be manipulated into believing.
No, suppressors are not anything new to the gun industry... and many shooters are already entrenched in the splendor that is suppressor shooting, but they have yet to really go mainstream. They are legal to own in 39 states, but there has yet to be a "suppressor in every home" so to speak. In fact, the latest statistics tell us that suppressor sales are only in the twenty thousand per year range. When you look at the roughly estimated number of 80 million gun owners in the United States, there is a very large discrepancy between gun owners and suppressor owners.

While it's not quite available yet, we can tell you that Thomson will be selling the silencers for $350, the threaded barrels for $150, both packaged together for $460, and the whole shebang (we believe it's called the shebang) the gun, extended, threaded barrel, and can for $790.

Michael Bane talks about the rise is supressor sales
Suppressor manufacturers are telling me there's more interest than they've ever seen before, both from LEOs and civilians. I think that's great...more and more people are catching on that America is the only country with a psychosis about mufflers. I've noticed, however, that in New Zealand rimfire suppressers have "soared" in price to as much as $100. I'm going to push NSSF pretty hard on calling for suppressors to at the very least be moved from the $200 transfer tax, same as machineguns, to the $5 AOW tax. In a sane world, suppressors would be immediately "decriminalized" and promoted heavily as the safety device they are. I'm also going to talk to the big suppressor manufacturers and see if we can come up with a common campaign.
