$30,000 wasted on gun buyback

Its a tired old song and dance..... and apparently it flushes $30K down the drain so "officials" can look like they are actually doing something

With these guns now off the streets and out of people's homes, officials intend to keep it that way. All of the guns and even ammunition that was turned in, will be destroyed.

Anyone who has a gun in their home that they would like to turn over to authorities, is advised to contact their local police department to arrange a drop off, although no money will be handed out in exchange.

So are they getting guns off the streets or out of people's homes? I'm confused.
