Some thoughts on the Ruger 10/22 Breakdown Rifle
Last week Ruger unveiled their new 10/22 Breakdown rifle. They have also already been spotted in the wild. Here are my thoughts on the new rifle...
Its an incredibly awesome rifle!..... Its perfectly executed!..... They are selling it at the perfect price point!..... I have no desire whatsoever to buy one. Seriously. None.

CCI .22lr Shot Shells
Nice piece over at *God, Gals, Guns, Grub about the effectiveness of the CCI .22 shotshells... with a little added humor:
*He takes the best damn pics... I mean come on, thats just a damn can of diced tomatoes!
So if you've got some pests to get rid of and they're not related to your spouse... try some CCI 22LR Shotshells for Pest Control...

.22 LR UZI
Sweet! The Firearm Blog reported on this the other day. Umarex is going to be coming out with two versions. Both in .22 lr. They are suggesting that they will probably gonna be pricey, but they will be a lot of fun!

Same Brain
Apparently The Firearm Blog stole my gripes about that new Ruger SR22 pistol word for word... lol
Exit Question: Whats a "whilst"?
Whilst I like this pistol, I am slightly disappointed that Ruger did not pattern it 1:1 on the SR9/SR40 pistols. The grip, controls and, of course, the action are not the same the larger centerfire pistols. The 10 round magazine is also disappointing but I fully expect that Ruger will announce a larger capacity magazine later this year. My last complaint is the name. Ruger also has a SR-22 rifle, so googling for "SR-22" will return two years of webpages and videos written about the SR-22 rifle.Amen! I honestly could not have said it better myself. What is everyone else's opinion on the matter?

DPMS Dedicated .22LR AP4 Upper Assembly
RTB has a review of an item that I am really looking at getting... the new DPMS .22 upper. I am still very much on the fence about if I should get a conversion, a dedicated upper, or a dedicated rifle, but I am really needing an AR .22 solution of some sort.

Pocket Guns
Human Events has a very nice read on this subject. They have put together a "best of breed" look at .22 and .32 caliber pocket guns. It is a Part 1 with a .380 write up coming soon. They also talk a bit about pocket carry in general.
Now, I agree with just about everyone of their picks except for that darn NAA Mini. Simply put... Those little suckers are really hard to shoot. Yes, the grip on the Pug does make it considerably easier, but I would not look to one of these to ever be anything more then a novelty. That being said... the other side of the coin is that I have seen a good number of news stories over the years where in an attacker/home invasion was stopped by elderly gentlemen who happened to have had one of those NAA Minis in their pocket. Yes, there is a lot to be said about the "first rule of a gun fight".

Gel tests galore
Golden Loki has some really nice gel tests for several pocket pistol calibers up to 9mm. These are very well done, and most importantly are done with small carry pistols. If you carry a small gun, then you need to spend some time checking these out.

Taurus Pocket Rockets
G&A has a nice write up (with great pics too) about the updated Taurus .22 and .25 pocket pistols. They also touch on ammo selection and tactics, but I'm sorry other then putting it up someone's nostril and hoping its enough... there is just not much else you can actually do with one of those little buggers. Also, I just dont understand why anyone would choose one of these when you can have a .32 in the exact same gun or a .380 in an even lighter and smaller gun.
*Full Disclosure - I have been know to carry a .22 as a second or third gun.
**The new guns look pretty nice
