Empty Cases has a nice cometary on this incredibly interesting cartridge. Its really anybody's guess what is going to happen with it in the long term, but it certainly draws a lot of interest from hunters. That is of course because it is without a doubt a game getter.
I personally don't really obsess over thirty caliber when it comes to deer hunting. There have been plenty of deer that have fallen to lesser diameter calibers, and if you do your job they will certainly do theirs. There are also many other AR-15 based cartridges that will get the job done if you just don't want to lug around an AR-10 but insist on using a "Modern Sporting Rifle".
Empty Cases also points out that despite a questionable future, a hunter can still have a lifetime of service from a rifle chambered in .30 Remington AR, and do so without having to stockpile hundreds and hundreds of rounds.
