Getting the gun up and running again from slide lock

Caleb over at Gun Nuts Media has an interesting blog post up about this and it has really gotten me thinking about my own skill set. He says that the over hand slingshot approach to reloading (which is what I do) is falling out of vogue.

... and I for one think that’s a good thing.  Now, I am not a gunfighter or a defensive trainer – I’m a shooter.  My job is to get rounds on target as fast as possible, so when my gun goes to slide-lock, I want to get it up and running again as fast as possible.  And you know what?  If I was in a defensive situation where I had shot my gun to slide-lock but there were still additional targets to service, I’d want to get bullets back in my gun as fast as possible as well.
He recently did some timed testing and found that the slide lock method was faster... much faster (see link). Thats really making me think about my own methods and which direction I need to go. Of course everyone is different and needs to find what works best for them, but the stark differences in times that Caleb was able to achieve is something to make me take notice. I have always been of the mind set that the over hand approach is the most reliable way to get that gun up and running again, but I am definitely going to do my own testing on my next trip to the range. I would also like to see how stress and adrenaline would factor into each method also.

Here is a video on speed reloads:

*Another interesting note... Caleb is rated at between 240 and 360 rounds per minute? You, sir, are an "assault weapon".
