Thats Not Your Job, Gun Shop Sales Associate

Your job is to sell guns to the customer, not talk them out of them.

So, I am in a local gun shop the other day and I ask the guy behind the counter if I can take a look at the Kahr CM9 that is in the showcase (which had a pretty darn good price too). He lets me look at it and we are kinda chatty as I am looking it over. I ask him how many rounds it holds, and he tells me... But... he then begins to inform me that you can't load the mag up with all 6 rounds because it has a hard time feeding and will cause stove pipe jams.

Really dude? First off, I have never heard of Kahrs having these problems. If it is true, I would bet dollars to donuts that its strictly on a gun-by-gun basis. Not really something a buyer has to worry about until they have run the gun pretty extensively. Secondly, you just told a customer at the gun counter that the gun they were interested in has problems with jamming. Now, I had no intention of buying this gun. I just wanted to fondle it and check it out some... but he didnt know that. If I had been a customer that had narrowed things down and this was one of the guns that I wanted to buy, you just talked me out of it. There is no reason to say that to a potential buyer. The only reason he was doing it was because he wanted to make himself look smarter then me. He had to be the gun shop know it all and prove that he is some kind of gun guru. Even when I gave him some push back and told him that I had never heard of that happening, he just doubled down and started going on about how all his Kahrs that he personally owns do that too.

I hate to say it, buddy, but if I was your boss you would be off the sales floor. Your job is to close a sale, not convince a buyer to hand the gun back to you and head out the door. Look, I know that this is just typical gun shop behavior and that its all just part of the charm. However, its stuff like this that is costing you gun shop owners sales. The quicker that you can figure that out and either weed out these guys or retrain them... the quicker your sales are gonna go through the roof.
