An officer and her original duty weapon

An interesting read about a cop who was presented with her original duty weapon.... which had no serial number. Apparently the process to re-serialize it was an interesting road - You think?!

It’s not entirely uncommon, though, for a new serial number issued to a weapon that has had its number removed. It happens locally three or four times a year, an ATF agent said, usually in cases where a gun of sentimental value to its owner has been stolen and later recovered with a damaged or removed serial number.
