eXtreme Polymer Research has some pretty cool stuff coming down the pike. They are a company based in Spain, and they have developed a line of polymer cases for handgun cartridges that they are hoping to soon bring to the marketplace. With precious metal prices as high as they are (and with no signs of coming down anytime soon), its nice to see that there is something like this in the works that might help bring down the price of ammo.
There are a couple of other companies out there working to bring polymer cased ammo to market, but this is the first one that I have seen who are working on doing so with pistol ammo (.380, 9mm, .40 & .45) - The military has shown interest in rifle ammo for the obvious weight saving benefits.
The press release that they sent me stated that they are hoping to start shipping sometime in January 2012 and the polymer cases will have a cost of somewhere around 10 cents.
