I Wouldn't Expect Anything Less From the Brady Bunch

A few days ago the Brady Center posted on their Facebook wall the question: "Do you ask about guns in the homes your children visit?". It was an obvious ploy to get people overcome with fear, but the real kicker was what they wrote in the comment section after several replies:
Thanks, everyone. Very thoughtful comments. The research indicates that children's curiosity often overpowers the messages and education that we give them about staying away from guns. So, asking other parents about whether they have guns and how they are stored could be the most effective way to ensure our children and guns don't end up in the same room.
Seriously? Thats just despicable. Not only are you quoting blind "research" (that I am pretty sure doesn't even exist), but you are also telling parents that talking to their kids and educating them about the dangers of guns is useless. Congratulates, Brady Center, you just killed a bunch of kids.

I've got small kids. I understand that, yes, you can indeed talk to kids about what to do if they ever find a firearm. Yes, you can teach them that guns are dangerous and that they should not touch them. Just like how you can teach them that they should not run out into the street because a car might hit them, kids will understand everything you tell them about guns.

I get it... you are trying to kick the can of your gun-grabber agenda down the road a little further by implying that guns endanger kids and that you would also like to see loony liberal parents try to make gun owners feel guilty about keeping guns in their home... but deliberately misleading people into believing that educating their kids about gun safety is a pointless effort is absolutely heinous.

  1. loony liberal parents?

While I fully agree with that your saying, keep your political views out of it.

    Sincerely,

  2. Perfect...talking to children about guns and gun safety doesn't work and gun education is a waste of time....BUT WE HAVE TO TALK TO OUR CHILDREN ABOUT SEX, ALL FORMS OF IT...EXPLICITLY...AND BE TAUGHT ALL THE SAFE WAYS TO HAVE IT BECAUSE SEX-EDUCATION IS THE BEST WAY TO FIGHT TEEN-PREGNANCY.
