Conceled Carry

Michael Bane has a great read on concealed carry right now over at The Outdoor Wire. He focuses on drawing from concealment and addresses why a "standard draw sets us up for failure". Go read the whole thing, but here are a few takeaways:

3) For CCW, consider a drawstroke that allows the weak hand to remain in a guard position. There are several variations we'll be showing (and that we've shown previously on SHOOTING GALLERY . . . the weak hand extended in a "Stop!" position or weak hand and arm centered in front of the forehead to both protect the head (the body's "command and control" center) and give the shooter more leverage for empty-hand techniques.

4) We must learn empty hand techniques to supplement our firearms techniques. Think of a close range attack as not one, but 2 separate problems - stopping the initial attack, which will likely require empty hand techniques, then gaining distance to allow the gun to be brought into play.

5) We need to develop a one-hand CCW draw, leaving the weak hand for empty hand responses or even controlling a family member.
